Prepare to be captivated! A chilling new psychological horror film titled Puppet is on the horizon, and it promises to delve into the darkest corners of the human psyche. The film, directed by Nick Peterson, features an impressive cast including Madeleine Coghlan, Chris Sullivan, Taryn Manning, and Kevin Keppy.
Puppet draws inspiration from Peterson's short film MuM, and centers around Ash, a young woman ensnared by the emotional and psychological control of her abusive husband. As Ash's grip on reality loosens, she finds herself trapped in a surreal dreamscape, a twisted world filled with masks, puppets, and unsettling illusions. Within this nightmare, distorted reflections of her family and marriage take the form of sinister figures, relentlessly tormenting and manipulating her.
Ash's journey becomes a desperate fight for survival, a quest to reclaim her voice and break free from the destructive cycles that threaten to consume her. This film promises to be a gripping exploration of trauma and resilience.
Peterson shared that the film is based on personal experiences, stating, "Drawing from my own life and family, this film examines cycles of harm and the possibility of change." He aims to create an experience that is both unsettling and deeply emotional, reflecting the darkness of these cycles while holding onto the hope of breaking free.
Producer Sean Patrick Burke of 222 Pictures expressed his excitement, saying, "I’m thrilled to be producing Puppet alongside such an incredible team. Nick has crafted a deeply original and resonant story, and I believe the film’s unique vision will connect with audiences in a powerful way.”
But here's where it gets controversial... The film is scheduled to begin production in Los Angeles in January, with Charlie Jacobson serving as executive producer.
Madeleine Coghlan, known for her recurring role on ABC's The Rookie, leads the cast. Her previous work includes Miranda July’s Kajillionaire and guest appearances on Lucifer and Castle.
Director Nick Peterson's previous work includes the thriller Dark Mind, which was released in 2007. He has also directed music videos for artists such as Evanescence and Jesse McCartney.
And this is the part most people miss... Chris Sullivan, Taryn Manning, and Kevin Keppy, each with their own impressive portfolios, round out the cast.
